There is a new florist in town, and their name, Brothers Papadopoulos, describes it well. It is truly a family business. In the early 1970’s, Taso Papadopoulos left the life he knew in the small village of Trehlos, Greece to come to America. He settled in the Bay Area and soon had 5 children 4 of whom followed their father into the floral business. After 30 Years, business is good. They have 10 locations in all: 5 in Modesto, 3 in the Bay area and 2 in Sacramento. The Carmichael location is managed by Taso’s son Frank and his son, Kosta, a college student and aspiring film maker.

I asked Kosta what the secret was to the Papadopoulos family’s success and he told me, “I would have to say, it’s honesty” Kosta said that his family always gives discount to police officers and fire fighters because of the outstanding job they do for, not only his family, but for the great service they provide our community. “It’s just something we like to do” said Kosta.

Brothers Papadopoulos florist is located at 6340 Fair Oaks Blvd., at the corner of Marconi & Fair Oaks, next to Serritella’s. They stock the typical things you find in most floral shops: plants, bouquets, exotic arrangements, a large variety of stuffed animals, balloons and greeting cards, but they also stock fresh fragrant roses, any color, for $6.99 a dozen. Brothers Papadopoulos Florist is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday to Saturday. And 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Oh, and they also have jars of honey for sale, fresh from the hive.
